Resistance Measurement

One way to determine the value of a resistor is to measure the voltage and current at the resistor with two multimeters. We then apply Ohm's law and calculate R = U/I. You can also measure the resistance directly with the multimeter. To do this, you have to remove it from the circuit.

To measure a resistor with wire leads, we use special adapters in the lab that can be connected to the multimeter via cables.

Test leads with clips on a resistor

A resistor is connected to the multimeter via the red and the black socket. So you use the same input of the multimeter as for voltage.

Connecting the multimeter to measure the resistance of R2

The multimeter must then be configured for resistance measurement using the mode buttons. So press the mode buttons until the Ω symbol is backlit in green.
